On Monday last, the 12th October, His Lordship, Bishop Glen John Provost, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lake Charles, solemnly consecrated St. Francis De Sales Oratory Sulphur, Louisiana in the United States.
This historic ceremony marked the first church consecration in the American Province of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest in eighteen years, following those of St. Mary’s Oratory – Wausau, Wisconsin, in 2003, and Old St. Patrick Oratory in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2008. The ancient rites included the lustration of the church, the tracing of the Greek and Latin alphabets, the translation and deposition of relics beneath the altar, and the anointing of the twelve consecration crosses, culminating in a Solemn Mass celebrated by Msgr. Schmitz, Vicar General, in the presence of His Lordship.
